On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at approximately 7:30 PM the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a victim that was trapped under a bobcat/skidster. Firefighters arrived on scene at 7:35 PM and found a male victim, approximately 40 years old, at the bottom of a hill trapped under the machine that had toppled over. Firefighters initially had trouble accessing the scene due to the wet terrain and topography. Fire Crews utilized extrication equipment and air bags to raise and stabilize the bobcat to safely remove victim. Once the victim was removed from the entrapment, care was initiated, and the patient was stabilized until the arrival of Flight for Life Med-Vac Unit. Patient was then air-lifted to Advocate Condell Medical Trauma Center, in Libertyville, IL. At this time the condition of patient is unknown.
The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by Huntley Fire Protection District, Union Fire Protection District, Hebron Fire Protection District and Cary Fire Protection District.
