Special Recognition at ALFPD Board of Trustees Meeting

A special recognition event will take place at the Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District’s Regular Board meeting on May 24, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Citizens, police officers and 911 dispatchers will be recognized for their life saving actions.
Recently a resident went into cardiac arrest in the presence of family members. One of the victim’s adult children began CPR as the spouse called 911. The dispatcher, from SEECOM, walked the victim’s adult child through the steps of CPR while simultaneously dispatching police and fire/rescue personnel.
Upon arrival, the first responding officer used his Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) on the patient.
Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District crews arrived, the initiated and maintained Advanced Life Support (ALS) to the patient. The patient was transported to a local hospital where he received definitive medical treatment and discharged a few days later.
The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District (ALFPD) wishes to recognize the efforts of all the individuals and agencies that worked together to save a life. Community safety and well-being is everyone’s responsibility.
The ALFPD recommends that everyone learn CPR and know how to use the 911 system for all types of emergencies. These lifesaving steps could affect someone you care about.
